    WEBSITE MANAGER

    Who we’re looking for:  We’re looking for a volunteer WordPress developer to update and maintain the website.

    About us:

    • What: Better Because Collective is a 100% volunteer-run organization that fosters growth from trauma through the power of storytelling.
    • How: We provide support and resources to individuals who want to turn their challenging life experiences into stories of hope. Our platform is for anyone looking for connection, community, and kindness at any point on their journey. 
    • Why: We believe that when trauma is acknowledged, embraced, and shared as a vital part of the human condition, it empowers the individual spirit and enriches our collective story.

    Time commitment: The role is ongoing and has a time commitment of around 1-2 hours per week. We appreciate and prioritize volunteers who are fully committed and enthusiastic about our work and can skillfully integrate their volunteer contributions to the organization into their daily lives. Please let us know if you envision volunteering with Better Because Collective for at least a year.

    Communications: We’re a small team of dedicated volunteers working remotely around the United States. Open communication and clear expectations are necessary to get tasks done on time. We value everybody’s time and commitment. We use Slack to discuss, Trello for project management, Google Drive for sharing our internal documents, and a shared mailbox for organization-related emails.

    Your responsibilities:

    • Maintaining the website.
      • Using plugins to update/implement complex functionality.
      • Improving our SEO ranking.
      • Publishing new stories.
    • Updating the website with the least amount of coding with the ideal plugins for user experience and future website updates.
    • General website content maintenance – updating copy, images, tags, alt text, spelling errors, broken links, etc.
    • Technical fixes, troubleshooting, updates to the website, design tweaks, and other ongoing web development needs.

    Your qualifications:

    • Experience with WordPress website maintenance and updating.
      • Using easy to maintain and cost-effective development practices.
    • Experience with UX/UI Design.
    • Experience with digital marketing (SEO/Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager).
    • Experience with troubleshooting plugin conflict, cross-browser, cross-platform, and any other issues.
    • Ability to work with a small remote team using Slack, Trello, Google Drive, and Zoom.
    • Ability to work independently and set realistic deadlines.
