Copywriter

The copywriter is responsible for communicating our mission and vision to a broader audience through our website and newsletters. This includes writing new and engaging content for both of these platforms and applying SEO best practices to drive traffic to our website, as well as ensuring existing content on our website is correct, trauma-informed, and aligned with our mission.

Time Commitment

This role has an estimated time commitment of 2-4 hours per week. We also ask you to consider a one- to two-year commitment to volunteering with Better Because Collective to ensure consistency and continuity of our efforts, and to limit the disruption that high turnover can cause.

Communications

As a small team of dedicated volunteers working remotely around the world, we rely on a variety of online tools to communicate with each other. This includes Slack for discussions, Zoom for meetings, Trello for project management, Google Drive for sharing documents, and a shared mailbox for organization-related emails.

Your responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write compelling, trauma-informed content for our website and newsletters to grow our readership and entice potential contributors to write their stories
  • Copyediting: Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Better Because Collective branding and style guidelines
  • Content Optimization: Identify and apply terms and phrases that resonate with our audience and drive traffic to our website

Your qualifications

  • Experience writing SEO keyword-enhanced newsletter and website copy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative work
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines
  • Prior experience working with a remote team using Slack, Zoom, Trello, and Google Drive
